Automation Project

In my high school, I was a member of a group that created an automated process. The goal was to pick up a metal cylinder and transport it around using pneumatics. My main job was to hook up the electronic components, as well as tweak the building design, which included fixing the ramp and redesigning the movement mechanism for the swiveling arm. The unpainted wooden board behind the apparatus was the bulk of my task, I hooked all of the regulators and controllers up to a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and programmed that PLC to control all the pneumatics in response to a button being pressed (a remote button was used in the film). I also filmed and edited the video to demonstrate the automation project to our school board. As a result many members of the school board came to see the project in person and watch me demonstrate its operation.
